The charming fishing harbour, Essaouira is the old Portuguese city of Mogador. You can see the influence of the Portuguese on the architecture of the town. Despite this obvious influence on the UNESCO protected world heritage site, Essaouira has a history dating back to the 7th Century.

Essaouira has microclimate that is mild in winter and cool summer and therefore a good place to escape the summer heat of Marrakesh. Essaouira, located on the Atlantic Ocean, has a beautiful sweeping bay which attracts many wind surfers.
